Frequently Asked Questions

Custom Jewelry Design in Dallas – Jewelry Theory

Where is Jewelry Theory located?

Jewelry Theory is located at 4750 Iberia Ave, Suite 140, Dallas Texas 75207, in the Dallas Design District, just off Irving Boulevard. My private studio is easily accessible and surrounded by restaurants, galleries, and entertainment. Appointments can be requested online, by phone, or by email. For a Google Map, click here.

Do I need an appointment, or can I walk in?

Appointments are strongly recommended. While we are typically in the studio Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., scheduled appointments allow us to dedicate uninterrupted time to your custom jewelry design. I am happy to arrange appointments any day of the week.

How long should I plan for a custom jewelry design appointment?

Most custom jewelry design appointments last one to two hours, depending on the complexity of the design and how developed your ideas are. Sending inspiration images, sketches, or notes ahead of time helps make the process even more efficient.

What should I bring to my appointment?

Bring anything that helps communicate your vision — photos, sketches, inspiration images, existing jewelry, or even just an idea. You’re also welcome to email inspiration materials in advance so we can prepare before your visit.

How long does it take to complete custom jewelry?

Once the CAD design or wax model is approved, most custom jewelry pieces are completed in as little as five business days, depending on complexity and materials.  But if you can give me 4-5 weeks, the savings is substantial.

What happens after my first appointment?

After your initial consultation, we typically follow up within a few days with high-quality CAD renderings of your design. In many cases, a wax model is also created so you can see and try on the piece before it is finalized.

What forms of payment do you accept?

I accept cash, check, and major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express).  I also accept Zelle, Venmo, and CashApp.

What is there to do near the studio?

The Dallas Design District offers excellent dining, entertainment, and galleries. Many clients enjoy visiting Trinity Groves, catching a movie at Alamo Drafthouse, or stopping by Ascension Coffee nearby. We’re happy to share personal recommendations.

How much does custom jewelry cost?

Custom jewelry pricing varies based on design, materials, and gemstones. Most custom rings begin between $3,000 and $5,000, though we regularly design pieces below and well above that range. We work collaboratively within your budget to create the best possible design. Custom jewelry is often more affordable than expected compared to retail chain stores.

Is custom jewelry more expensive than store-bought jewelry?

Not necessarily. Because we design each piece from scratch and work directly with clients, custom jewelry often provides better value, higher quality, and complete personalization compared to mass-produced retail jewelry.

How do I clean and care for my jewelry at home?

Many pieces can be cleaned safely at home with mild soap, warm water, and a soft brush. If deeper cleaning or inspection is needed, we welcome clients to stop by the studio for professional cleaning and care.

Do you offer a warranty?

Yes. We offer both five-year and lifetime warranty options depending on the piece. Warranty details are provided during your consultation.

Absolutely. I frequently reimagine heirloom jewelry, old rings, and unused pieces into new custom designs while preserving sentimental value.

Can you reuse gemstones I already own?

Do you buy old jewelry, gold, or diamonds?

Yes. I purchase precious metals, diamonds, and gemstones and provide competitive offers based on current market values.

Do you specialize in custom engagement rings?

Yes. Custom engagement rings are one of our core specialties. Each engagement ring is designed one-of-a-kind in our private Dallas studio to reflect your style, story, and budget.

Why choose a private custom jeweler in Dallas?

Working with a private custom jeweler means direct collaboration with the designer, complete transparency, and a level of craftsmanship not available through chain stores. Jewelry Theory offers a personal, discreet, appointment-only experience focused entirely on custom work.
